NHR Resident - Advice on Importing French Vehicle & Driver's License Exchange Hello, I am a Portuguese NHR tax resident seeking advice on two matters: 1. Vehicle Import I own a French-registered car on French plates with French insurance, registered to my personal property in France (which I also own). I have a valid Portuguese IPO (valid until June 2027) that I used to renew my French registration. I typically only spend short stays in Portugal and have not yet had the time to complete the import process. However, I am now interested in doing so. My questions: Is there any exemption for residents who own property abroad where the vehicle is registered? (When I researched this a few years ago, I understood this might be an exemption, but I'd like to confirm the current legal position.) If I must import, what is the process, ISV cost, and timeline? Are there penalties for the delay given my short-stay pattern? 2. Driver's License I currently hold a French driver's license. As an NHR resident, should I exchange it for a Portuguese license?
